What is dermanostic and how does the service work?
dermanostic is a telemedicine online dermatology service. You can conveniently submit your skin issue via the dermanostic app to licensed dermatologists in Germany for professional treatment.
You receive a fast specialist diagnosis and an individual treatment plan without needing to visit a clinic. The service is flexible and location-independent—even on weekends, public holidays, or abroad.
If needed, we issue a private prescription valid throughout the EU.
How does an online skin diagnosis work?
The online skin diagnosis is completed in 3 simple steps:
- Upload photos & describe symptoms
Upload three photos of your skin change from different distances and answer a few short questions about your symptoms. This gives your dermatologist all the information needed for a well-founded diagnosis and treatment. - Register, choose a package & start treatment
Create your secure patient account, select one of our three service packages, and complete the payment. The physician review begins immediately afterward. - Diagnosis, treatment & private prescription within 24 hours
You receive your medical diagnosis and individual treatment plan within a maximum of 24 hours—often much faster. If needed, we issue a private prescription and send it to your chosen local or online pharmacy.

What does the diagnosis and treatment recommendation look like?
After medical review, you receive a digital medical report with your diagnosis and individual treatment recommendation. The report helps you understand your skin issue and can be used for further consultation with other treating physicians.
Additionally, a free skin and ingredient encyclopedia is available for further reference.
How long does it take to receive a medical response?
All inquiries are answered within 24 hours at the latest. In many cases, you’ll receive feedback within just a few hours.
If follow-up questions or additional photos are required, the 24-hour period restarts—you’ll be notified via email and push notification.
Can I ask follow-up questions or contact the team again?
Yes. Each medical report explains how long the treatment should be followed and when you can expect improvements.
If questions arise during treatment or your symptoms worsen, you can contact our medical team anytime through the dermanostic app. Follow-up questions are included in the treatment price.
Which doctors will treat me?
At dermanostic, you are treated exclusively by licensed dermatologists in Germany.
The specialist training lasts at least five years and is among the most comprehensive worldwide. Some of our dermatologists are also internationally recognized experts in their field.
How is medical quality ensured?
All treatments are conducted personally by experienced dermatologists—even digitally.
Additionally, regular case conferences, internal quality checks, and a medical expert network ensure consistently high treatment quality.
Can I use dermanostic in an acute emergency?
No. dermanostic is not suitable for acute emergencies.
In cases of severe allergic reactions with breathing difficulties or loss of consciousness, heavy bleeding, or other emergencies, you should immediately seek in-person medical care or call the emergency number 112.

Why are personal contact details required?
For legally required documentation of medical services and for issuing a private prescription in Germany, name, date of birth, and address are required.
When may I submit photos of other people?
Children: Legal guardians may submit photos
Adults: Only with explicit consent

dermanostic offers three non-subscription packages, so you can choose the digital dermatology treatment that fits your needs.

You can pay via credit card (Visa, Mastercard, American Express), Apple Pay, Google Pay, PayPal, Giropay, invoice, or SEPA direct debit via Klarna.
Does my health insurance cover the costs?
Services are billed according to the German Medical Fee Schedule (GOÄ) and are generally self-paid.
Some statutory health insurers cover the costs fully (e.g., VIACTIV, BKK Linde, BKK Akzo Nobel, BIG direkt gesund, Postbeamtenkrankenkasse, BKK B. Braun).
Private health insurance usually reimburses the Basic Package fully. For Plus and Express Packages, only partial reimbursement may be possible.
Do I get a private prescription?
Yes. After your medical diagnosis, you can request a private prescription in the app, which is sent directly to your chosen local or online pharmacy.
Can I get a sick note (AU) or referral?

We do not issue traditional referral slips.
However, you can download your medical report as a PDF and present it at a clinic or practice—it is sufficient in most cases.What if a diagnosis isn’t possible?
If a reliable diagnosis cannot be made despite suitable images, you will receive a full refund.
Where can I find my invoice?
Invoices are available as a PDF in the dermanostic app under “Case Data” → “Invoice & Reimbursement.”

Can I use dermanostic on weekends and public holidays?
Yes. dermanostic is available 24/7, including weekends and public holidays.
Are there specific opening hours?
No, dermanostic is available around the clock.
How does contact with a dermatologist work via the dermanostic app?
You securely submit questionnaire, photos, and other information to your dermatologist. After payment, the physician reviews your case, and you receive the medical report directly in the app.
Is my smartphone camera sufficient for a medical diagnosis?
Yes. Modern smartphone cameras are sufficient. At least three photos from different distances and angles are needed for assessment. If the quality is insufficient, you will be asked to upload additional photos.
