dermanostic is a telemedicine service where you can send your skin problem to a dermatologist via app. You can use the service anytime (even on weekends) and anywhere (even outside Germany). The private prescriptions are valid throughout the EU.
Download the dermanostic app from the Apple App Store or the Google Play Store and register. Then you can create your case. The app guides you step by step through all the points. Finally, you enter your patient data and make your payment. Your case will then be examined by one of our dermatologists and you will receive a doctor's letter with the diagnosis and treatment recommendation.
All enquiries are answered within max. 24 hours. In most cases, you will already receive a response after a few hours. As soon as the dermatologist asks you a question or requests new images, the 24 hours are counted again from the beginning. You will be informed about this by e-mail and push message.
You will receive a detailed doctor's letter about your skin change. This means that the disease and therapy recommendation are described precisely and understandably. This means that you know which disease has been diagnosed and how it should be treated. Furthermore, this document facilitates future communication with your family doctor. In addition, we provide you with our skin encyclopaedia free of charge. Here you can get more detailed information about the diagnosis if you need it. Furthermore, you can read the most important information about the prescribed medications in our drug encyclopaedia.
If our dermatologists recommend a prescription medication in the form of a cream or tablets, we will provide you with the appropriate private prescription. For this purpose, we send the private prescription either by post to your home, by fax to the pharmacy of your choice or directly to a partner online pharmacy. If you fax the prescription to the pharmacy, we will send the original prescription to the pharmacy by post. If you order via the online pharmacy, the medication will usually be sent to you on the same working day - the invoice is enclosed in the package. The private prescriptions are valid throughout the EU - outside Germany, they are sent directly to your home.
In each doctor's letter, you will receive information on how long the therapy should be carried out and after what period you can expect an improvement. If you have any queries in the meantime, or if the complaints and symptoms worsen, you are welcome to contact our medical team via the contact options in our app. The consultations are of course included in the treatment price.
Almost all cameras of today's smartphones are suitable for dermanostic. At least three photos from different distances and angles are required. If the photo quality is not good enough for the doctor, we will inform you via our app that new photos are needed. This ensures that the diagnosis is always based on good photo quality.
You can upload photos of your children as a legal guardian. If you want to upload photos of a third person of legal age, you need consent, which is confirmed with a signature in the app. For example, you can also get a dermatologist's diagnosis for your grandparents even though they don't have a smartphone themselves.
All physicians who treat you at dermanostic are specialists in dermatology licensed in Germany and therefore have extensive experience in this field. We ensure a high quality of the diagnoses made through our additional medical expert circle and weekly case conferences.
To ensure that you receive a diagnosis and treatment recommendation within a very short period of time (max. 24 hours, an average of 4 hours), your request is automatically assigned to the nearest available dermatologist. In this way, we can offer you the fastest possible service.
Studies show that most skin diseases are so-called eye diagnoses. This means that with just a few questions and a quick look at the skin change, the doctor can make a diagnosis. In any case, it is important that you make sure that other areas of skin are also affected so that the skin condition can be correctly diagnosed. Please note that dermanostic is a supplementary service for a personal visit to the doctor.
Some skin diseases can take a dangerous course. These include, for example, a pronounced allergic reaction with shortness of breath and/or clouding of consciousness. Extensive bleeding after an operation on the skin can also be an emergency. In such cases, personal treatment should take place immediately on site, so that our app cannot be used in emergencies.
Yes, the dermanostic app works worldwide. Our app is already available in four languages (German, English, Dutch and Spanish), with more to follow soon. Within Germany, private prescriptions can be sent directly to your home, to an on-site pharmacy or to an online pharmacy. In all EU countries, prescriptions are sent by post, in Austria also directly to an on-site pharmacy. The prescriptions we issue are valid throughout the EU. This does not officially apply to Switzerland and the UK due to legislation, although from our experience they are accepted in both countries.
We do not currently issue a certificate of incapacity for work, which you will receive from your family doctor.
You are welcome to download your findings report as a PDF and submit it to the doctor's practice/clinic; this is often sufficient (we do not currently issue a referral slip).
We cannot issue a certificate for a mask exemption. The mask requirement contributes to the containment of the COVID 19 pandemic. This measure is determined by the legislator. We recommend that you change your mouth and nose covering frequently.
Downloading the app and registering is free of charge. The service costs €25 per treatment case. This is a one-off amount. A subscription is not taken out.
The app and registration are free of charge. You can upload the photos and fill out the questionnaire. Only then does the payment process take place. You can interrupt the service free of charge at any time up to this step.
We currently offer payment by credit card (Mastercard, VISA, American Express), Apple Pay, PayPal, purchase on account and SEPA direct debit.

All services are provided in accordance with the schedule of fees for doctors (GOÄ). In principle, this is therefore a self-payer benefit. However, some statutory health insurance companies cover them, such as VIACTIV (https://www.viactiv.de/leistungen/gesundheit-und-medizin/innovative-medizin/hautarzt-app-dermanostic) health insurance. Other statutory health insurance companies will follow shortly. All private health insurance companies reimburse dermanostic in full, i.e. both the costs of our treatment and the medication.
After a diagnosis has been made, a button will be activated in the DermanOstic app, which you can use to conveniently request your private prescription from the app. We will send the private prescription either by post to your home or to your **pharmacy of your choice (approx. 1-2 working days). Alternatively, we send the private prescription digitally to a partner online pharmacy. Here, your medication will be shipped on the same working day and you will receive the medication straight to your home.
If you cannot be diagnosed despite good pictures, we will inform you accordingly and refund you the costs in full.
In Germany, it is legally required that every patient treatment must be recorded with the patient's name, date of birth and place of residence. In the case of a private prescription, it is necessary to write the patient's name and date of birth on the prescription.
If you have urgent questions or a complicated case, our medical team will be happy to contact you personally. We may also call you as part of our quality assurance process to ask you about your treatment.
dermanostic acts according to the most modern security standards and complies with further international standards in addition to the legal data protection regulations. The data protection system of dermanostic is certified by TÜV Saarland.
Your data is processed and secured on servers in Germany (Deutsche Telekom) in compliance with data protection.
We follow the principle of data minimisation, so initially only the dermatologist carrying out the assessment receives the unchanged information on the skin change. If the treating dermatologist deems a second professional assessment of your treatment case necessary, the interdisciplinary expert panel of the Dr. Lang practice (specialists in otorhinolaryngology, gynecology, urology, ophthalmology, rheumatology, etc.) will be consulted for advice. If medical aftercare is required or desired, this is carried out by medical professionals from Dermanostic GmbH on behalf of Dr. Lang's practice. In this case, the medically trained professional will contact you via the app or via telephone.
Your health data (name, date of birth, address, treatment information, etc.) is pseudonymized and stored separately in encrypted form. Your information will not be shared for marketing or advertising purposes.
If you would like to receive medication or send a prescription to your preferred pharmacy, your prescription data will only be forwarded with your consent.
If you have consented to product development, your data will be used to train artificial intelligence. This is only done with your consent.

We process the payment entirely via external payment service providers. This means that we do not have access to your payment data and therefore do not store it. We only find out whether the payment has taken place.
The protection of your data has the highest priority for us. Therefore, we encrypt every data transmission via SSL/TLS. You can easily recognise the secured SSL connection - you will see a green lock in the address bar of your browser. Data transfers between the app and our server are always encrypted end-to-end in accordance with the mandatory requirements of Google and Apple.

Product development means the development of artificial intelligence to support dermatologists in medical diagnosis and the continuous improvement of our services.
If you have consented to the processing of your data for product development, we will use your uploaded images and your completed medical history form to develop and train this artificial intelligence. In this way, skin diseases can be detected automatically in the future, dermatologists can be supported and future patients can be helped more quickly.
Your data will be anonymised as far as possible and processed by our dermanostic team on German servers. In some cases, external developers, for example universities or external companies, can also be involved in the development, in compliance with data protection and security regulations.
